Chapter 1 and 2 Review.

**** sorry for the late post, my internet was down for two days so I kept having to go to my neighbours' houses to use their computer.

In chapter 1 and 2, we get introduced to the characters. The main character in this story is Peter, a 13 year old boy. He acts and pretends like he is a "man" and does risky things, but on the inside, he is a frightened, sensitive guy. For example, in Chapter two, he threw a rock at Sir Phillip, just missing his head. He did not necessarily have to throw it, but he did, and that set Sir Phillips off. The reason he did this was because him and Sir Phillips had some ugly history. Sir Phillips came onto their land, and put up a stone wall around it, and claimed it was his.
After Peter threw the rock, Sir Phillips became infuriated and shot his pistol at him. It just missed and hit and burned through his hat. He survived, but then the men were after him. This was when his frightened side came out. Him and his family decided that it was best for him to get out of town, for safety. He admitted he was scared and afraid.
At the end of chapter 2, he ended up leaving the city, and could see that the two men were after him, but far away.
Chapter 1 and 2 response.
From these first two chapters, there is one, obvious thing about Peter's character that is shown through his actions towards Sir Philip. It's quite clear that Peter is a reckless person. Even if he hated Sir Philip, no amount of hate should be enough to put your own life on the line in exchange for throwing a rock at a person. From the text, he didn't even consider the enormity of the possible consequences that he would have to go through if he was caught. He put himself in immediate danger and narrowly escaped death. Not only that, Sir Philip is now almost certain to go looking after him, he wouldn't be too happy about his wall being destroyed. It's very obvious that because of his carelessness, he can be considered a very reckless person.
At this point within the story, An accurate hypothesis of future events to come within the novel can be made, using the events that have already been unfolded. An obvious action that will contribute the largest to future events is that Sir Philip Morton will start looking after Peter, having found evidence of Peter's contribution to the destruction of his wall and his attempted assault on Sir Philip Morton. Peter has only two options if this hypothesis is correct. The first is to rally as large a force as he can with his friendly community and attempt to overthrow Sir Philip Morton with overwhelming force; the second option is to run away into another city or country. The latter is more logical, it requires less planning, less lives lost, and less havoc.
Also, another trait is quite obvious in another person, that person is Sir Philip. Sir Philip more than meets all the criteria needed to be considered a Tyrant. He shows unfairness through little concern to lower-class people's opinions, such as the building of his wall, shows corruption as he is willing to kill the lower-class for the continuation of his wall, and is willing to act dishonestly for personal gain.
These would be the best description of chapters 1 and 2 in a few short words , they are very descriptive, informative, and give excellent hints to future events in the story(foreshadow). Because they serve as such an excellent introduction to the story's plot, it's characters, and the setting, these first 2 chapters can be considered very well-written.

Note: for some reason when I post the indents won't show up!

Chapter 1 and 2 response

In the first two chapters I have learned that this story is based in 16th century England. The plot is about a boy(Peter) maybe my age, running away from Sir Phillips (a knight or a noble.) This is because Peter threw a rock at Sir Phillips(that missed) and left his hat with his name on it at the scene. This all happened during the night when the men wanted to tear down a wall Sir Phillips built. Peter is then forced to leave the country because it is no longer safe for him and he is now a fugitive running from Sir Phillip and his army.
I think Peter must really hate Sir Phillips because I personally wouldn't blow my cover just to throw a rock at a person and risk myself of getting shot. I also thought the pressure on Peter was really harsh, because Peter was the only one the army has any evidence against and if Peter gets caught he will probably get tortured until he reveals the name of all the other people that participated in the destruction of the wall. I think that making a teenager move to a different country alone with only about $50 is scary. I could never imagine myself moving to a different country alone for a few months. I don't like Sir Phillips because of his tyrannical way of ruling. He is taking something that belonged to the people and keeping it all for himself. I thought the people taking back the land Sir Phillips took away was justified and they shouldn't be punished for it.

Apology

For this next few weeks from Monday to Wednesday, I will most likely be busy from 3-6PM so I might not be able to post that early. This is only temporarily so please don't get mad if you can't reply to my posts. -Brendon

ch 1 and 2 response

I am confused!? Why do they want to tear down the wall and is Peter being chased because he threw a rock that missed a guard? Help please!!!

Big Q Response

I personally think in a religious way your path is chosen for you but you need to find it. Also I believe that someone can change their "stars" in society. For example: If you were born and raised by farmers that does not mean you must live the rest of you life as a farmer. Like these men in the video they probably work in the fields because that is what their elders had done as well but one of the men wants to challenge that by becoming a jouster. For example: My dad owns a restaurant, that does not mean I have to be stuck into the restaurant business, no i can be what ever I want to be!
